Back to work, no play

So my first day back since Thursday, was ok...I didn't kill anyone.  So that's a plus.  But a couple of things did sorta get me down:

#1. The other office girl quit.  She has been there a little longer than I have, and she wasn't that bad to work with, I liked her.  We worked mostly on Wednesdays and Saturdays together.  During the school year, we work Saturdays at the office, during the summer we get weekends off.  Well, she is married (older than me...40's I think) and has 3 children, so she gets the entire summer off anyway.  She had a couple of deaths in her family (sudden deaths) this past year and I think she is going through some stuff, emotionally.  I sorta called it that she was going to quit, just little things I noticed about her, but I couldn't believe that she actually did it.  Now I'm the only weekend person...I can't wait.  I'm going to add her to my prayer list.

#2. The office manager was in a semi-bad mood.  One thing you should know about my office job is that the office manager and I don't always get along.  She tends to shoot first, ask questions later.  And I'm more along the lines of asking how you're doing, what your name is and asking to sing Kumbaya with you.  So when she shoots before the first verse is sung, it doesn't end well.  I usually end up dead.  In a pool of blood.

Anyway, I can always tell when she is in a mood because I'll come into work in a chipper mood and say: "HI!!  How was your weekend??" and if she says, "Hi, it was good.  How was yours?" she is in a good mood and it will be an okay day.  But if she answers, "It was fine."  Buckle up, brother.  In the words of one of my favorite villains, "Here. We. Go."  Today was one of those 'buckle up' days.  In the beginning everything was my fault, but I just put on my super chipper smile.  She couldn't help but get over her funk...I was just too smiley.  But seriously, she knew because I was so happy, patients would notice that she was acting like a real stick in the mud.  My smile is my secret weapon.  It ended up being ok, she got over it.  I try not to let her poison affect me...just call me Snow White...on activated charcoal.

Hopefully tomorrow will go alright.  If not, I may be catching a ride home in the back of a squad car.

  1. Snow White or activated charcoal???? You are too much! Nice to see you lifting others up with your attitude rather than letting them bring you down. Nice work, Snow.
